In KS2 children are taught that decimals are another way of writing fractions. The hundred number square is a really good way of showing children the equivalence between fractions and decimals.
When adding fractions without a common denominator, it is necessary to find a common denominator before adding the numerators. Find two equivalent fractions by determining the least common multiple of the two denominators and using that as the denominator for both fractions.
Who said learning multiplication has to be boring? By turning math into a game, you are more likely to remember what you are doing.
Division with remainders. Your child will most likely come across or ask about situations where division “does not work.” These can be explained with the introduction of the remainder. It is an important idea to understand as the division of larger numbers will require the “carrying” of this remainder.
