Use flashcards. Make multiplication cards for each number set. Although this may seem tedious, the process of making the cards will actually help you to learn them. Once you’ve made them, spend some time each day studying until you know them all. Focus on one number set at a time. When you go through the cards, put the ones you get wrong back into the pile so you see them multiple times.
Children may find the easiest way to work this out is by using the column method, where all the numbers are placed in a column, one on top of the other. It is vital that they remember that the decimal points of each number must line up. Once they’ve worked out using pencil and paper, let them check on a calculator as using decimals accurately on a calculator is an important real life skill too.
Long Division. There are different methods for dividing multi-digit numbers (long division). One way is a combination of estimation/ trial and error and multiplication. There is also a commonly used algorithmic method that is well explained and illustrated here at mathisfun.com.
One of the biggest problems is that there are so many different concepts and equations in algebra and in order to be successful you have to understand the entirety of it or you will not be able to figure out which procedure to use. You learned the order of operations years ago and that is one key tool for algebra. This tool allows you to understand which process happens first and so on. PEMDAS is a very valuable tool.
